TOSHIBA MK8032GSX 80 GB 2.5" - how to make it work with Banana Pi - what do i need else

hello dear community,

i have a hdd from a notebook that i do not need any more - so i took the hdd.

i want to use it in combination with Banana Pi it is a TOSHIBA MK8032GSX 80 GB 2.5" 5400 RPM 8 MB SATA Laptop Hard Disk Drive HDD

well i need some adaptors that can help here - in order to make the things working . what do i need to have here!`?

Yes, you need this cable (from ALLNET). With a regular power adaptor (5V 2A), you can use it with an SSD-drive. A regular power adaptor is probably not strong enough to power the banana pi AND the HDD you want to use. To make it work, I use a 5V 3A power switch that powers the banana pi and the HDD as in the picture below.HDD_Connect

The red and black cable are cut and connected to the power switch. The banana pi is powered by the power connector that is intended for the SATA-Drive. Make sure the red cables are connected to +V of the power switch, the black cables to -V
