Read and write GPIO with FPGA interface

I am new guy for M64 board. I had used the M64 read and write the parallels data into FPGA GPIOs,

my idea is to use the python or wiringPi, I search the forum with wringPi.

1- it is best that M64 provide 1 input port 8 GPIOs, 1 output port 8 ports 2- I will connect the M64 GPIO to FPGA with Pin40 header

I want to use Python , or wringPi , I like to use Python for the function.

do you know how to read or write the data to M64 GPIOs., and what is read or write signal.

I think SPI model is slow than parallels model.
