I'm looking a server image for M2 Zero

Hi. I’m using Banana Pi M2 Zero and I’m looking for a latest server operating system like Raspbian Lite, Ubuntu Server (server, without GUI). Pls help me send me a link to download. Thank you.

Bookworm is not working for me. i2c for Real Time Clock module is not working USB camera stopped working and is not recognized anymore with the latest upgrade Weird and instable behaviour in regard to NetPlan and Access Point installation.

Thank you for your feedback. While it’s true that things might not be functioning perfectly at the moment, it’s important to clarify that the system does work—with limitations. This is expected, given the nature of community-maintained boards like the one you’re using.

Armbian is developed and maintained by volunteers and contributors, and it’s worth noting that the project supports its users at no cost to them. As such, we need to be mindful of how we allocate limited resources, especially since Armbian does not generate direct income and operates on a negative budget.

Bugs and regressions can occur, particularly when new features or upgrades are introduced. This is an inherent trade-off in the open-source ecosystem, where contributions are voluntary and support is often community-based. If you require specific functionality or stability, you are welcome—and encouraged—to engage with the wider kernel or Armbian community, or even hire a developer to address your use case directly. For the use case of OP, those limitations would likely go unnoticed.

We appreciate your understanding and welcome constructive input to help improve the project.

Well… That’s a matter of perspective. I also decided to give a BPI a try because of its better performance compared to the Raspberry Zero. But when I see that the “current” images are from 2020/2019 and are therefore at least five years old, then you have to face the question: What are you supposed to do with a BPI? Okay, the M2 Zero didn’t cost much, but due to the lack of usable operating systems, it’s just a waste of money on a useless paperweight. I would have preferred to treat myself to a few beers; that causes significantly less frustration…

I understand your frustration.

Linux operating system, including the version running on our PC, is maintained by a global community of open source developers rather than funded through hardware sales. It’s easy to overlook this sometimes. Unfortunately, we are experiencing a significant shortage of support, and there is little we can do under these circumstances. It seems there is still an expectation that software maintenance happens by external alien force :frowning:

Do you have any idea how much developers lost? Board costs less then one hour of work and fixing a small bug can easily eat a week.
