Hello. I took the babana kit for the second time and again received a defect. I can’t figure out how to compile an openwrt assembly with driver patches. Normal build goes fine, but I can figure out what commands are needed to apply patches to the kernel.
Why do you think your card is faulty? Have you set sw4 to on (for 12v power supply) and which os do you use? There is a common issue with tx power/noise.
I think he is talking about low TX power. Can we somehow help to push this?
Yes, that’s right. How do I rebuild the current build with this patch?
No, this is not my first card, I know for sure that the problem is in it.
As I understand (not sure if it’s correct) we can wait for this patch to merge with official OpenWrt or we can use Sinovoip’s firmware update for BE14 called MP 4.1 and replace mt7996_eeprom_233_2i5i6i.bin.
I’m also searching for the solution so I’m not sure if I understood this whole thing - but main downside seems that Sinvoip’s firmware (and maybe that .bin file also?) is not open source.
I don’t know how to do it manually. I guess we should compile it ourselves with patch included though I don’t know how to do it haha. Will dig this deeper when I catch some time.
tried it, doesn’t work
I would like to try also with main OpenWrt. Just to place the patch in
package/kernel/mt76/patches/001-Add-tx_power-check.patch
and compile for BPI R4?
Try it, maybe it will work. I tried other patches, but when I started to compile I got an error.
