Thanks for your reply.

I’ve updated my rockchip ArchlinuxArm install script, the same as I have on the Mediatek version. It supports RK3288 and RK3588 devices.

See:

The updates for RK3588 specifically: It now installs gnome, kodi, mpp, ffmpeg-mpp v4.4 and v6, gl4es, mesa-panfork (incl vulkan, opencl, vdpau) succesfully. It does need a lot more testing though. See:

It can boot from SD card, EMMC should also be possible. Also it can boot from a combination of SPI and NVME (without SD and/or EMMC).

About the linux kernel, it uses the armbian linux kernel for now. Eventualy I would like to add the possibility for mainline linux kernel. The RK3288 is a good example of that. It then uses ffmpeg4.4-v4l2-request-git and ffmpeg-v4l2-request-git instead of the mpp version. I’ve created them to get the ffmpeg version from the same source as libreelec does.

About U-Boot, I use a version that supports nvme, from another vendor. Also U-Boot I would eventualy want to move to mainline, as soon as it supports nvme.

As I already own a RK3588 device, I personally have no use for any more devices, so it is not likely I will purchase another RK3588 any time soon.

However, if BPI chooses to, you can send me a BPI-W3 and I could add the BPI-W3 to the script.

I’m Roberto, network engineer and OpenWRT expert and developer.

I have seen that you will release a new router

https://www.tomshardware.com/news/banana-pi-bpi-r4-aims-to-be-the-heart-of-your-home-networking-projects and wanted to know if you can send a pre-production sample out to me in Italy. I’ll try developing a OpenWRT or pfsense image and provide it to the community.

now just sample ready ,when we instock ,will send sample to you.

Please provide me an email address to get in touch to send my address and phone number information.

Best regards, Roberto

@sinovoip

I see the RK3588 now has good mainline u-boot support, including pcie3 and nvme now.

So I plan to update my script for RK3588 boards to use the mainline U-Boot. The next couple of weeks.

Also move on to a fork of the rockchip-linux kernel rk-6.1-rkr1, vendor independent.

This may be a good time to add the BPI-M7 and/or BPI-W3 to U-Boot, so if you send one, I will see if I can add it.

Then I can also add them to my rockchip archlinuxarm script.

ok ,[email protected] ,will contact you,

hi Im Mohammad, im a new openwrt developer, i brought openwrt support to linksys mx4200, i would like to work on the BPI-R4 and try to help out with openwrt development for it, i have a vast range of experience so debugging and working on BPI-R4 shouldnt be an issue for me, i even do android custom rom development for devices

proof of my openwrt work

Developers of various open source communities. Can add banana pi-related product support in your own community.

I am the project owner/developer of Neo-EmuELEC-H3. a retro gaming system. I have already ported EmuELEC to different arm chips . including H3/s812/Rpi4.

s812/Rpi4 are private project on github.

State the type of Banana Pi boards 4 you want to apply for and the work you want to do on it.In principle, a developer can only apply for one development board.

I would like to try Banana Pi BPI-M7 for my next project. which is porting EmuELEC to RK3588.

Thank you

Hello, I am fwa233, and I am very interested in BPIR4. Currently, the mainline OpenWrt does not support the 5G module. I want to try to upgrade the kernel to 6.1, port the 5G module to the 6.1 kernel, and test the feasibility of 5G band aggregation on OpenWrt.

Hello. I am a student at the University of Macedonia. I will graduate in September and will continue my studies at the master level.

During my studies, I participated in a project entitled “Using hybrid artificial intelligence models combined with machine learning, Big Data and IoT technologies for forest fire prediction and management”. The research can be found at https://firetell.github.io/. Since the topic of fire prevention is a very important issue for my country, I would like to pursue it in master as a thesis and build an mvp, a model device. The algorithms are available but I’m not sure which model of Banana Pi I could use. Possibly one with processing power but also memory. Please suggest one.

As experience with Pi boards, I have only used the Raspberry Pi. I have built and written documentation for several projects. You can find several here https://iosifidis.github.io/.

I hope you can help me in my thesis. Thanks.

Hey folks,

I run https://shop.plati.ma and have the SBC-focused YouTube channel @PlatimaTinkers.

I am happy to test and review any boards if you want. I share a real-world experience though, so people know what they are getting into. If I find faults or challenges, I’ll share them, and of course also show users how to overcome them if I find a solution.

I am also starting to work on my own add-on components for SBCs, which I intend to make compatible where possible.

If not all good, just saw this thread and thought I’d drop a line.

I’m an editor at 3dnews.ru (also available as 3dnews.kz), a major tech publication in Russia and CIS. Previously, we published a review of the BPI-R4 on our daughter project Servernews. We’d like to do a thorough review of the upcoming BPI-R4 Pro and BE19 too, which will be listed on the main 3DNews site as well as Servernews. Please let me know if you’re interested.

Hello, I am working on SFP NAS with bpi-r4, and sharing used/working hw list and performance results here on the forum already.

I would like test it on the new PRO version of bpi-r4, and I would like copare it also in the question of stability. My actual bpi-r4 I bought on Aliexpress restarted itself “sometimes” without any information in journals. I think that it could be because of high cpu load (>5 but cpu temp < 50) or high iops on raid5 or 6 array/s, but “Mr. nobody knows”.

Thanks for considering my request.

Hi, I’m a blogger currently working on an article exploring the current state of 10Gb home networking. It seems like the upcoming BPI-R4 Pro board could be a good entry point into affordable 10Gb solutions for amateurs and home users. I’d like to test it out and include it in my article. I’m also open to publishing a standalone review post.

Dear @sinovoip, I would like kindly ask you to confirm if giveaway of bpi-r4 pro for developers are closed or there is still chance to get the board in exchange for testing and providing results. Thanks
