Hello !
I’ve just got a new Banana Pi M3 and I have this on it:
Linux bpi-iot-ros-ai 3.4.39-BPI-M3-Kernel
PRETTY_NAME="Raspbian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie)"
NAME="Raspbian GNU/Linux"
VERSION_ID="8"
VERSION="8 (jessie)"
ID=raspbian
ID_LIKE=debian
Doing even the most basic thing on it makes it run wildly hot ! I literally can’t touch it. And I don’t think this is a normal behavior. The device doesn’t seem reliable.
Linux 3.4.39-BPI-M3-Kernel (bpi-iot-ros-ai) 06/18/2019 _armv7l_ (8 CPU)
avg-cpu: %user %nice %system %iowait %steal %idle
2.17 0.00 1.53 0.03 0.00 96.27
avg-cpu: %user %nice %system %iowait %steal %idle
1.01 0.00 4.28 0.38 0.00 94.34
As you can see the CPU is mostly idle, yet it’s very, very hot.
Also, I have some other curiosities that I would like help with.
What is the latest version of OS for this device ? Because a normal Raspbian won’t work. I found Jessie and I have no idea if it’s up to date.
The Kernel looks ancient.
Also, I have issues with GCC: I can’t update it. It is at 4.9.2 version gcc (Raspbian 4.9.2-10+deb8u1) 4.9.2
and it says that it is up to date. How could that be ? GCC latest release is 9.1.
I suspect that because of the very old GCC I get the following errors:
