Banana Pi BPI-M1+ won't reboot on Arch Linux

Hello all,

My Banana Pi won’t reboot; there is no response after I send the reboot command (or “shutdown now” or “echo b > /proc/sysrq-triggerclient_loop”), so I have to physically reset the power every time I need to restart it.

I installed Arch following these instructions: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Banana_Pi. It thus has the latest kernel and vanilla u-boot.

I don’t know if anything would show up on the screen, it’s in a remote location and not plugged in to one (I have to wait for them to get home to reboot it).

Everything else is functional (SATA, ETH0) except the wifi but I don’t particularly need it.

Check Armbian. Much better support (highly improved vanilla kernel) and greater possibility that you will be able to use this hw. https://www.armbian.com/banana-pi-plus/

Thank you ! I will install Armbian next time I’m on-site.

I have the same problem on BPI-M1.

I’ll see if I can find a fix
