Banana Pi BPI-BE14 Wifi7 Module Heat sink and FAN

:exploding_head:

  • It appears to match only with the R4 Lite and the R4 Pro.
  • Combined with this information:

… it doesn’t smell good :see_no_evil:

Yeah, i’m little pissed, but oh well. I just hope there will be some proper heatsink for the original bpi-r4 and be14 especially since i bought the taller case.

Hello,

it looks like there may be an issue with compatibility for your heat- and fansink assembly.

→ It does not fit the standard R4. Could you please mention this in the product description?

I have a question in mind:

Do you plan to revise the design of the standard R4?

I think sales isn’t aware of this. Otherwise, they wouldn’t label it as “BPI-R4-BE14”.

or …

Does the new BE14 get a new heatsink?

… and the old heatsink will not be supported?

Yeah, they should put it in the description, that it’s intended for the Lite and Pro version.

thank you for your advice. I have already responded to this issue and it should be revised soon.

I still don‘t know how that fan would fit on the lite or pro, they use the same BE14 board?

Or do they also need a modified BE14 with spacers soldered to the gold-holes (like the same problem as with the massive fan)? And then rotate the fan 90° and screw them with 2 screws on the BE14 board and 2 screws on the main-router board?

Good, I said it fits the heatsink perfectly. It should have come with some screws and brackets like these.

You should first insert the gold brackets into the motherboard and then insert the screws.

I’ve attached some pictures.

OK, that would make more sense - but at least for the normal BPI-R4 you could only screw two of those into the BE14 board, as the spacing on the heatsink are larger than the board itself.

I guess the same could work for the larger heatsink then… I ask Judy if that would work as well…

Good afternoon. As the images show, the one they sent me fits perfectly once installed on the board.

Mine arrived as I’ve shown you: first, place the gold-plated components on the motherboard, then the heatsink, and finally the screws.

It fits perfectly, at least what they sent me.

I’ll leave you with the current temperatures.

Regards

There’s no way in hell that those fit on the normal bpi-r4. You have the pro version, so they fit. Also, i don’t have spacers in be14, i have holes.

I apologize, I’ve always referred to the Pro version. It’s not compatible with the regular Banana Pi R4; it mounts underneath the board and doesn’t fit in the current case. Besides, I’m not sure if it uses the same mounting hardware as the Pro version.

I’ve always referred to the Pro version because it was designed for that board.

Sorry for the confusion.

I’m very curious how my two heat sinks / fans will fit (in the also ordered new version of the case). In the sinovoip shop of aliexpress it is clearly referenced as as made for BPi-R4 without any mention of “PRO”.

Good evening. Please note that the standard Banana Pi R4 case won’t fit that heatsink because the BE14000 is already touching the bottom of the case. I’ve seen that they’ve put a new case on sale that should fit, so you shouldn’t have any problem.

Thank you very much for the link.

Those heatsinks will not fit in standard bpi-r4. Those are only for Lite and Pro version.

For R4, the original cooling concept relied on the chassis.

→ Nothing on R4 lines up with the mounting holes on THIS heatsink :see_no_evil:

R4 needs a dedicated heatsink, and it’s not available for sale at the moment :joy:

But the taller case is on sale… I’m not sure what will happen now:

  • New release of the standard R4 board
  • Abandon R4…

→ R4 Lite and R4 Pro have four additional PCB mounting points for this heatsink.
