Armbian with BPI M2 zero: how to use it without OTG

I have ordered an OTG cable but it will be here in few days; is there a way to connect to the BPI remotely? A Rpi allow you to set up files in the boot partition of the OS, so you can SSH on it, but I have no clue how to do that (if you can do that) on Armbian.

I can just wait few days of course, but would be nice to use the board now remotely if possible

I think there is a config file for that in the /boot folder, partition is only one (ext4) as this is not RPi which needs to have FAT as 1st partition.
