Hi everyone,
I’ve been lurking here while building this pocket AI notetaker, and I’d value blunt feedback from people who build their own hardware.
Does anyone here use an AI voice recorder or notetaker day to day? I’m curious what frustrates you about it, because I kept running into the same three problems:
- most of the devices look and feel interchangeable.
- my notes end up inside someone else’s ecosystem.
- everything goes back into an app, where transcripts and summaries pile up until I stop looking at them.
That last one is the biggest problem for me. Recording is easy; getting the important next step back in front of me is not.
The video shows the complete actual working loop. I use Quick Note to capture a messy thought, and it becomes visible next steps on the e-ink screen. The app keeps the full transcription and summary, while the device keeps unfinished tasks in sight.
In this clip, I use Quick Note. For meetings, the switch on the right starts continuous recording for hours at a time. There’s also a magnet in the back, so I can carry the device on my phone.
I’m still considering what to open-source first. if you already use an AI recorder, what pain point would you want this project to solve differently?
Your comments would genuinely help me. Thanks!
