hi, Just got a new R4 and followed wiki. Booting off factory NAND OpenWRT. Took these two screenshots: one is
This bit is what happens on serial ouput when I put just the SFP in
This bit is just taking out the ethernet cable and putting it back in:
I have my computer attached to the first LAN and it works via web and SSH. If I connect the R4 to same ethernet cable via 1Gbps WAN it gets an IP allocated but my computer on LAN can’t browse. Assume that’s a firewall/DHCP/Subnet thing.
As I only have 1 SFP I can’t check another. Very different than the Wiki serial example. Maybe I have a broken SFP? Maybe I need a new driver for the SFP? Maybe i need to update the OpenWRT? Apologies if its really simple but I don’t know what the serial output means.
one important function of this forum is the search:
I think you need to understand, that the original software differs from official open WRT.
→ in many ways!
There are many chats (which you can find by searching for it) that will explain that …
I made things worse by using the SD image on the openWRT webpage. The number of packages was way less and I could no longer use Luci or SSH. Reverting back to Banana Pi images. Their wiki says:
where is this latest image? No hurry as I’m slowly cleaning this SD card but I can’t find it.
You are a free person! You can choose what you want to install.
But usually the bananapi openWRT version gets less popular. After the first release it is often used, but official openwrt gets better and better … . I would recommand you to take the official open WRT version.
AND YOU have to understand something:
There are some points of the software that are still under devenlopment!
Luci is not included in official Open WRT (if I am not mistaken) you “just” have to install it (you do not have made something wrong!)
But SSH should work! What I not read … do you use a serial Adapter to connect to thge board?
I said at the start of the very first post I was using Serial and posted an image from it asking what it meant. I am curious to know how you think I am reading the Serial and taking a picture of its output without one?
