Smaller eMMC size on BPI-R4 Pro with OpenWrt 24.10-SNAPSHOT

The BPI-R4 Pro reports a disk size of about 340 MB after flashing into the eMMC the official OpenWrt 24.10-SNAPSHOT image that can be downloaded here: Banana Pi BPI-R4 Pro Wifi7 Router board design with Mediatek MT7988A | BananaPi Docs

However when listing the block devices from an SSH session I can see that the eMMC is much closer to the actual 8GB it should be:

I used the steps described in Getting Started BPI-R4Pro | BananaPi Docs to flash the image to eMMC.

Any idea why is it showing this smaller size and how can I resize it such it takes the whole size of the eMMC?

The free space in LuCI is the free space in the root filesystem overlay. And it doesn’t make sense to give OpenWrt’s root filesystem overlay more space than what you easily keep in RAM during sysupgrade – it anyway gets reformatted every time you flash an updated firmware. In order to use the free space on the eMMC for userdata or any other purpose you had in mind I’d recommend you to install uvol and autopart packages. This will allow you to create and manage additional general purpose storage volumes on the eMMC, eg. for userdata or containers or whatever.
