Only see 2.4Ghz being broadcasted not 5/6

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this scene, I have setup the kit BPI R4 with BE14 WiFi Module, however I can only see 2.4Ghz being broadcasted – I can connect to it but can’t see either 5Ghz or 6Ghz SSIDs I have setup.

I am using the OpenWRT firmware selector for Banana BPI-R4 (snapshot with luci), I had also tried the MTK firmware before (with MTK menu in Luci) but couldn’t get any traction either.

Attaching some screenshots just in case. I noticed lspci returns 7988 while the UI shows the MediaTek as MT996E instead, wonder if that is the issue. Thanks for any feedback/suggestions.

I read something about mbedtls not being able to make sae hotspot.

so if wpad-mbedtls is installed this could be the issue.

either try same encryption on 5/6g as for 2g or uninstall wpad-basic-mbedtls and wpad-mbedtls

i personally prefer openssl als someone wrote a huge gain in speed and since the device doesnt lack storage space why use something other than every linux uses. Also some enhanced packages need openssl later and if you begin with wolfssl you have to undo all dependencies if thats the case

my tip install wpad-mesh-openssl or wpad-openssl.

if you are testing you could give my snapshop image a try:

included all of this, even the fix firmware: (replace the mt7996_eeprom_233_2i5i6i.bin for testing)

but i cant guarantee for it to run since my device hasnt arrived yet
