Media center for BPI-R2?

Hi folks,

Is there any media center, like kodi, ready for BPI-R2?

Marcello

install kodi should be no Problem…interesting was the question about hardware-acceleration of videos…tht can be a Problem. Also i’ve heared about HDMI-Problems…have you tried that?

i want to use the board as it was designed for…an router  so i have not tested any of the multimedia-capability

why then such a video processor is needed? how not to play good quality video

Is hdmi working with your image?

You can try to build mali450-support with your kernel-source and this: https://developer.arm.com/products/software/mali-drivers/utgard-kernel

Tried to do as described in this forum, but does not work! https://forum.armbian.com/topic/1420-opengl-on-mali-gpu-bananapi-orangepi-pc-etc/

I’m far from Linux, but it seems to me that there is no data in the loading sheet for loading the installed drivers

As far as i know, driver for video-acceleration (vdpau/vaapi) is not the same as driver for opengl (mesa/dri)…

According to the spec of the GPU on gitbook, it should be possible however the driver will more likely need to be compile as mention by frank-w. I don’t believe you can software decode of HEVC/H.265 at 1080P@60fps. As per the armbian forum, make sure mali and mali_drm kernel modules are loaded.

Video decoder Multi-format FHD video decoding, including Mpeg1/2, Mpeg4, H.263, H.264, etc H.264 high profile 1080p@60fps, HEVC/H.265 1080P@60fps Video encoder VP8 encoder: 1080p@30fps H.264 encoder: high profile 1080p@30fps

Hello! there is a working version for Kodi?
