็็How to build OpenWrt 18 with SATA support for BPI-R2

i posted options here: ็็How to build OpenWrt 18 with SATA support for BPI-R2

but a dts-change alone should not stall cpu…i see no fix in driver in my 4.14 branch so it should be ok…maybe backporting of openwrt breaks pcie-driver…you can download drivers/pci/host/pcie-mediatek.* from my repo and compare with yours

No any probing of pci. What im do:

  • git clone openwrt
  • update and install all packages
  • menuconfig - select target and some needed packages - save and exit
  • kernel_menuconfig - change bootargs - save and exit
  • check dts file, add frank-w’s code from above, save
  • check kernel .config file pcie_mediatec already enabled
  • make j5 And when i start it - nothing new, no pcie initialised, empty lspci, no sata no minipci wifi

What does cat say on your system?

Do you have /proc/config.gz? (print using zcat/zless)

Please post output of both

At least no stalled cpu :slight_smile:

root@OpenWrt:/# cat /sys/firmware/devicetree/base/pcie-*/status
disableddisabledroot@penWrt:/#

There is no config.gz in /proc

as you can see your pcie nodes are still disabled…maybe you need to change the other dts-file.

As you need to compile again you can add /proc/config.gz (imho config_ikconfig in kernel_config)

mt7623.dtsi (23.8 КБ) may be need to change something in this file? Everything in disabled status in there, is it right?

afaik this should be set (at least pinctrl) in board specific dts. Status can be set in dtsi too. I wonder why you have dts twice…maybe change the other one (or both)

Both dts files modified and recompiled with config_ikconfig=y, but nothing changes. No pci and no config.gz Nex i try to modify statuses in dtsi file and recompile again.

have looked in my kernel-config…you need IKCONFIG [=y] and IKCONFIG_PROC [=y] (needs PROC_FS [=y]) to see /proc/config.gz

but we know now that your dts-nodes still disabled…and you see only 2 where i see 3 (pcie-controller and the 2 ports)

ls /sys/firmware/devicetree/base/pcie-*

you can look which dtb-files you have in your build.dir…maybe compile log says which dtb is linked in kernel…

as far as i see in your mt7623.dtsi you need to enable also pcie0_phy and pcie1_phy

root@OpenWrt:/# ls /sys/firmware/devicetree/base/pcie-*
/sys/firmware/devicetree/base/pcie-phy@1a149000:
#address-cells     compatible         pcie-phy@1a149900  reg
#size-cells        name               ranges             status

/sys/firmware/devicetree/base/pcie-phy@1a14a000:
#address-cells     compatible         pcie-phy@1a14a900  reg
#size-cells        name               ranges             status
root@OpenWrt:/#

ok, these are the phy’s, wonder why the pcie-node is missing completely

so we need something like this:

&pcie {
	pinctrl-names = "default";
	pinctrl-0 = <&pcie_default>;
	status = "okay";

	pcie@0,0 {
		status = "okay";
	};

	pcie@1,0 {
		status = "okay";
	};

	pcie@2,0 {
		status = "okay";
	};
};

&pcie0_phy {
  status = "okay";
};

&pcie1_phy {
  status = "okay";
};

in the right dts-file

When i change dtsi file my cpu is stalled like early. Now i try with default dtsi and edited dts file.

mhm, strange that cpu is stalled on activating pcie nodes…

is moving to another kernelversion (4.19) no option?

I use edited dts with activated pci nodes and cpu stalls. How i can move to new kernel? I must clone other openwrt git? Now i using ‘openwrt’ from they wiki.

afaik you can select using 4.14 or 4.19 in openwrts menuconfig

for stalling maybe you can remove pcie-nodes from your dtsi and add these from my repo (4.14-main)…i guess they are different

Trying to use yours dts and dtsi files from 4.14-main and not able to compile my openwrt.

You can disable these 2 in dts makefile…

I guess they referencing nodes not existing in my dtsi

Where this makefile is? Found dozens of makefiles in different subdirectories.

the makefile where dts(i) files are :slight_smile:
