Has anyone got BPI-R2 Pro boards broken at delivery? I’m not sure but I think I sorted anything else out.
Built an SD card image with frank-w’s toolchain (Kernel 6.12.42, U-Boot 2025-01, rootfs), some additional debian packages und customizations.
The very same flashed SD card works on some BPI-R2 Pro boards at every boot, while on others it hangs on every boot. Strange: the error messages vary with the boot attempts.
I tried different U-Boots, Kernels and Software package selections. The problems stay always at the same boards.
Examples of error messages captured at debug port:
[ 1.758364] Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address fffffffffffffff8
[ 1.758541] Unable to handle kernel write to read-only memory at virtual address ffffbcace65e2318
[ 1.790103] Kernel panic - not syncing: stack-protector: Kernel stack is corrupted in: sched_balance_rq+0xc14/0xc20
[ 4.478424] Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 0000000000000000
[ 4.268442] Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init! exitcode=0x0000000b
[ 4.268446] SMP: stopping secondary CPUs
[ 5.435117] SMP: failed to stop secondary CPUs 0
To me this looks like serious memory-related hardware problems. But since I got some boards with this failure now, I wonder if there are more people facing similar.
Anyone?
Thanks for every hint.
