Hey everyone! I got my hands on a BPI-Wifi6 for over a year and overall it’s… not so great since the OpenWRT firmware is stuck at 22.03 and has limited features (missing kmods so some packages can not be installed, prplmesh is not working because there is so few tutorials for this)
I just found out the new repo for this device on the BPI Github page, link:
This was updated last month (at the time I’m writing this), here’s the old one on their wiki site: GitHub - BPI-SINOVOIP/THG6500-TAX2-OPENWRT-BSP
I’ve complied the new one and updated my own device and although it’s still 22.03, the version is now TGP 3.3.4 instead of the old 3.1.0. But when I checked the logs I found out this weird line:
Fri Aug 15 18:20:43 2025 kern.info kernel: [ 1823.885429] MAC and KEY are mismatched, the product has not been activated and WIFI performance is limited. Please contact with the developer.
This will be logged every 5 minutes, seems like BananaPI has implemented a check for the device, I couldn’t find any docs about how to activate this so I’m waiting for the devs to solve this.
Thank you for the support!
