"BPI-R4 Pro WiFi7 Router Complete Assembly Package"

Hello,

What exactly is included in this, https://www.bpi-shop.com/products/bpi-r4-pro-complete-assembly-package.html, assembled package?

I would like to buy one but it’s not clear to me what is and what is not included.

Also, is it possible to buy a black version of the case with this package?

Regards, - Bana

The bottom of the page explains what it includes:

BPI-R4 Pro-4E Router Kit

Kit includes:

  1. BPI-R4 Pro assembled unit (BPI-R4 Pro (4G version) (with two heatsinks) + BE14 + BE14 cooling fan + 4010 cooling fan + white sheet metal enclosure + antennas)
  2. Rubber antenna sticks (1 set of 6 pieces)
  3. Ethernet cable
  4. Power adapter (12V 5A)
  5. Screw accessories

If you are looking for a black version of the same size, sorry, there isn’t one; only a larger black case is available. As far as I know, the black version of the BPI-R4 Pro measures 280 x 138 x 44.5mm, while the white version measures 216 x 136 x 44.5mm.

PS: The above data is based on my own testing and may have some inaccuracies. Also, this data does not include the ear hooks and antenna.

I mean it is not even clear if it includes the WiFi 7 NIC or not.

Also, is this the version of the mainboard that includes the heatsinks like in the photo I attached.

So, this does not come with antennas?

It includes a WiFi 7 network card, which is the BE14 described inside.

It also comes with a matching white antenna, but I didn’t include it in my measurement data.

Does it include heatsinks on the mainboard like that picture I attached?

The motherboard has a heatsink.

:smiling_face_with_tear:

This is a bit too much for me…

There are many things about this router, that are really good! This should matter.

It depends on this PR

Openwrt support means the bpi-version with mtk sdk

I suspected something like that.

Just to be clear: is that the version with proprietary drivers?

I still have a problem accepting more than one OpenWrt.

After writing this yesterday, I imagined an answer to the question: “Should Banana Pi create their own software?”

My provocative answer would be: they already have, but they should call it BananaWrt.

I will get a lot of criticism for that. And that is okay …

There are no downstrea drivers. Thats why combo-ports are “forced” to sfp (as21 phy only works with downstream driver and i get no response anyone with deeper knowlege is working on it)

I find all of this so sad … :see_no_evil:

But, Thank YOU for trying!

i really like this BananaWRT idea… imagine someone creates a car and calls it “ferrari”. everyone would expect it to be a real ferrari. Thats exactly what BPI does with OpenWRT. They should really consider this idea and call their openwrt-clone something else. @sinovoip
