Hope it can support 8GB RAM and BE19000, but seems the space is not enough for BE19000.
Both 4GB and 8GB will support. The minipcie seat is placed on the side, so that there is room on the left side to extend the BE19 outward, and half of the BE19 is suspended
Is it possible to design combo port? SFP+ and 10GE switchable option, similar to those Qualcomm based TP-Link ones (BE800/BE85).
@sinovoip could you create EMI shields that we can purchase for the BE14 WiFi cards too because the BE14 card suffers from RX noise
10G SFP WAN and 2.5G RJ45 WAN are combo ports. Because 10GE chips are too expensive, it will increase costs. As a compromise, if need 10GE RJ45, you can use 10G SFP+ Copper Module.
We are considering this,
and also there is a chance that the R4 Pro will come with shields.
Yes, please!
This is everything I’d want for a pro version the 2.5G ports and 8G ram is the best part!
I’m not sure I understand what the 1G FPC port is other than possibly for “management”. The FPC definition I found means Flexible Printed Circuit, but didn’t dig too deep and don’t think it’s right.
If for example it is added to support UPS battery, how about it? So it will have an internal battery like ariaboard, so the device can be used more flexibly in mobile and no downtime when switch power supply.
I think for the pro there should be 2 PoE Lan ports imo
Is the fan header compatible with noctua 4-pin fans?
If it has enough bandwidth it could host an NPU/accelerator on the second M.2 M-Key to process video feeds
Yeah or at least the option/choice to add on POE to the other 2.5GB RJ45 ports.
Depending on the price, I will buy this
as a Pro board, I think the cost is reasonable. maybe the 10GE combo port could be offered as a paid upgrade option
Looks really good like it might be one of the highest end Wifi 7 capable routers available so depending on price it could be very good indeed. I worry about two things really, the time to market and how well the wifi will work in practice. The R4 with existing BE14000 still isn’t really ready and I wouldn’t want the pro to get in the way of finishing the existing offering which I think appeals to a lot more people when its nice a plug and play and reliable.
Change pinout for the fan and use standart 12v pc fan’s for the case instead of high speed small cpu cooler with custom pinout. Typical R4 too hot for the router with bad heat dissipation from internal space.
yes , we have test deepx AI card on BPI-R4.
I don’t know much about the specifications of the UPS battery (including battery voltage,slot,whether a communication interface is required, etc.), so won’t consider this part for now.
But there is a VH3.96MM slot that can supply power at the same time, and the 5521 DCIN slot can be switched freely without powerdown
PoE Lan requires 48V power supply, and I believe this is what more professional POE switches do, let’s focus on “router”
2x 1G LAN (FPC Connector), we used FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) connector instead of standard RJ45, two considerations:
- The current size of PCB is 194x132mm, and the goal is to make the case within 200x140mm, so there is no room for more RJ45 connectors;
- Make the board stackable, multiple R4Pro or expansion boards can be connected internally through FPC
I have considered it before, but I think that 12V PC fans are relatively large, so when the fan rotates, it may get tangled with the coaxial line of the antenna;
However, there should be a demand to make the case larger so that the fan will not interfere with the coaxial line. I will see if I can change one of the two fan connectors.
