BPI-R3-MINI CAPABILITIES

hey i need to write this for anyone might get same idea i got.

bpi r3 mini is very cool and fun board to mess with as it has decent hardware, but its advertised to be capable of running 5g connection/gateway and thats where i consider it misleading information. i bought brand new rm520ngl to pair it with the board but its barely detected on openwrt/immortalwrt/bananawrt most of times modem show once and disappear forever its not powersupply not software not modem firmware or hardware, its the board capabilities

been like days diagnosing this but i believe i reach the point its impossible to make it work properly, if theres something i miss please do tell me TY.

The R3-MINI can use the RM520N-GL module normally; detailed image descriptions are available in the Banana Pi documentation.

Perhaps you can verify this using an image published by Banana Pi.

Board already came with the image you linked, vendor firmware, i believe majority of BPI-R3-MINI never use vendor image its almost 3 years old. It was basic less support and outdated

Indeed, most people don’t use the manufacturer’s image; it is a bit outdated. However, it’s provided by the manufacturer, and you can use it to verify if the RM520NGL can be recognized. If it is still not recognized, then your R3mini or rm520n-gl module may have a hardware defect.
