Banana Pi R4 SFP at 2.5Gbps

According to the documentation: “The SFP serdes speed of BPI-R4 is fixed at 10Gbps, so only SFP that support this can be used!”

Does this mean that only 10Gbps connections will work? I want to connect my r4 to a mikrotik L009 using a dac but L009 has a 2.5Gbps SFP port. How can I make this work?

Thanks in advance

The documentation is for the special Banana pi “openWRT” version.

But I recommand you, to take the official open wrt Version: https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org/?version=SNAPSHOT&target=mediatek%2Ffilogic&id=bananapi_bpi-r4

“Does this mean that only 10Gbps connections will work?” → No, 1G and other speeds can also work (official open wrt):

DACs tends to be picky if you mix and match cage/serdes types. If a SFP 2.5g dac (you need special dacs for this trick, they usually costs more than conventional ones) doesn’t work, I fear the best approach would be to have SX 2.5g optics at both ends.
