There should be thermal pads shipped with the BE14 which connects it to the case. So the case is like a big heat sink.

Where is the test firmware located ? any link out there ?
i used the firmware files from linux-firmware but obviously these donât work same with openwrt/mt76
sorry just found them on frankâs repo - under BPI-Router-Linux/utils/firmware/mediatek/mt7996
But you have to copy firmware file manually to your rootfsâŠit is not builtin in itb

Since Mediatek released a new version of their (ancient) OpenWRT fork https://git01.mediatek.com/plugins/gitiles/openwrt/feeds/mtk-openwrt-feeds/+/refs/heads/master/autobuild/autobuild_5.4_mac80211_release/Release.md which no longer relies on the proprietary MT76 Programming Guide v4.0 (aka the SinoVoip image), I tried the included new firmware version but unfortunately it still does not show the correct 320MHz NSS etc.
Building and running the image, however, does show that it works correctly with the same firmware but their mt76 patches, any chance there are patches missing (not sure how much your 6.10-main already includes in terms of patches)?

i compiled the main branch of hostapd in order to test wifi7/be however I noticed that regdomain always defaults country 98! in spite of having country setup on the conf file or even forcing with iw ⊠canât use BE all others work but still country 98! has anyone seen this behavior? thank you
Maybe try setting the regdom for the cfg80211 kernel module. Just write the setting in /etc/modprobe.d/wifi.conf or other file in that dir, for example:
options cfg80211 ieee80211_regdom=COUNTRY_INITIALS_HERE
yes that is done ⊠I am using the default that comes with Frankâs build of DE ⊠but also tried changing to US, TW etc and doesnât take effect⊠systool -vm shows DE

have you looked which firmware is loaded? afair the sdk worked because they use kernel 5.4 and havily patched mt76 to get their firmware workingâŠthe problem was getting the interfaces up with mainline mt76 and only small patch

I made it work with 2.4g/5gâŠthe issue is BE although I am using the main branch of hostapd that should support it perhaps there are still improvements on the mt76 code.
i have not done any upgrading mechanism yet as my image can be updated step by step (upgrading debian by apt, updating kernel by build.sh, but firmware has to be copied manually)
if you have not yet done much changes just reflash the new imageâŠyou need to do same changes again after flashâŠor just copy kernel (BPI-BOOT/bpi-r4.itb),modules (BPI-ROOT/lib/modules) and firmware (BPI-ROOT/lib/firmware/mediatek/mt7996)
sadly nothing but since the same firmware for the card only shows the issue with the mainline kernel and not with their current sdk (sure its kernel 5.4 not 6.10 and the tool versions are likely different but I think the mt76 is a backport of a fairly recent version), I would assume that some of their patches (say autobuild/autobuild_5.4_mac80211_release/mt7988_wifi7_mac80211_mlo/package/kernel/mt76/patches/0004-mtk-mt76-mt7996-fix-HE-and-EHT-phy-cap.patch - openwrt/feeds/mtk-openwrt-feeds - Gitiles which claims to fix the EHT capabilities of the card) might be the solution, not the firmware.
The question is, what is easier, compile their version of mt76 against our kernel or try if the patches still apply to mainline I donât want to try to cherry pick 199 patches if there is a way to avoid it though.
Do you have any patches applied of your own or how do you usually handle this?
The use nearly mainline mt76 but with a bunch of patches changing the internal data structure,but you can try porting the fix youâve found to my 6.10-main tree and test again

will the linux kernel used in your image builder be updated automatically once CI has passed?
EDIT: is your gdrive pipeline automatic/public or only individual images?
Hello, Iâm trying to test this last image, but I donât have access through luci, I donât have internet through sfp+rj45 or through 1gb wan, I canât access through ssh either, I donât know the password.
I have everything set up above and the wifi 7 module that arrived yesterday, could you tell me an image that I can access through luci, with wifi 7 module, sfp+rj45, and the access password.
The images I have tried have access through luci, internet through sfp+rj45 and through the 1gb wan, but the wifi 7 module doesnât appear, and I canât create wifi interface.

the image is not rebuilt automatcly when kernel-ci passedâŠit has to be started by me manually, or you just build yourselfâŠor replace kernel on your existing sdcardâŠit is only unpacking
@Francisco debian has no luciâŠit is accessable only through ssh/uart, see configs for IP-adresses

Debian have webmin but i think there is no plugins for wifi config, firewall is there for sure.
