Asking about sfp standards

Hey all,

Planning to upgrade my banana r4 with sfp. All i know there are 10gig sfp but im looking for 2.5gig for my router. Im not sure if any 2.5gig sfp gonna work on my router, whoever knows please help me.

Thank you.

I use a 10Gtek ASF-10G-T on mine for 2.5G. I have not tested 2.5G to capacity, but both my router and the ISP device report 2.5G, and the connection seems fine. If you want, I can run some commands and let you know the output.

That would make things more clear fot me please do! <3

Also link me the product if you can

Much appreciated.

So the product link I believe is this:

I got it used. I was just looking for an ‘nBaseT’ module, and found this one for cheap-ish. dmesg has the following line: [ 12.223643] sfp sfp1: module OEM SFP-10G-SR rev 02 sn [redacted] dc [redacted]

It was just plug-and-play. Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to know. I currently run OpenWRT with it.

I bought the 2.5gbe sfp from here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005636648648.html , it works fine. On the label it has the brand Lianguo and the model is LG-2.5GE-SFP.

avoid realtek at any costs!!!

Haha thanks, that advice comes a bit too late.

MikroTik S+RJ10 is also a no-go. The BPI-R4 needs for the module to say hello before it’s powered on (pull the presence pin to ground), which MikroTik S+RJ10 doesn’t.
