[BPI-R3] [Solved] Issue with wifi

Hi,

I just started to configure openwrt and I noticed that I cannot enable wifi:

I am tried booting from sdcard(image from Banana Pi BPI-R3 OpenWRT image), nand, and nor. Always the same. I am running OpenWrt 21.02-SNAPSHOT

What could be the reason?

There has not been support for the BananaPi R3 in OpenWrt 21.02. Hence I assume what you are seeing is SinoVoip’s build of MediaTek’s proprietary SDK (which is based on OpenWrt, similar to e.g. how Ubuntu or Raspbian is based on Debian).

Please try booting from the SD card image which you can get from downloads.openwrt.org , you will need to write it to the SD card either using wipefs and dd on the console or using a tool like Balena Etcher. If the board doesn’t start from the SD card image, make sure the little switches are all in the correct position to select booting from SD card.

That didn’t help much. uci show wireless output was still empty. However, I came across this: https://github.com/openwrt/mt76/issues/702

After disconnecting the uart and power cycle the board the wifi appeared :slight_smile:
