The problem is freebsd not use linux kernel…not the bootloader
It’s going to be a lot of work to get FreeBSD working on this part. I’m not saying it’s impossible, because Netgate (the company behind pfSense software) has put pfSense on four different ARM boards.
But being able to support boards such as the Banana Pi is one of the many reasons why Netgate announced a move to linux back in April.
I’m an owner of Netgate. My R4 arrives Wednesday, and it’s not the first one in the company.
Did anyone got any further with booting freebsd or opnsense?
Did you get any further in either building FreeBSD or getting a working image? I’m super keen to get it working but I just don’t know enough how to modify frank-w’s kernel code to boot bsd instead of linux
Hi. 17408 is the LBA 34 first sector after GPT table. Where I can get BootROM documentation with this constant? I can’t find ROM/Boot procedure datasheet. Only 3 pdf from wiki with registers description.
I have no datasheet for bootprocess…bootrom loads bl2 (need mtk header),this loads fip (uboot in bl3) from fip partition (gpt).
