@sinovoip can you please answer these questions? The words “open source” are plastered all over this forum and your other sites, but there are no specifics about what exactly is open source about your products, let alone under what licenses.
Im having issue with I2C_! on v1.1 board
but have Meshtastic LoRa Mesh working on the BPI-R4 using SX1262 connected to GPIO 26pin header
Will make my own HAT soon
Hi everyone,
I definitely need a 2.5G port and am considering ordering the 4E/8E model. I don’t need POE. Since these models already have the necessary port, I could do without the SFP module to RJ45. Does the 4E/8E require a different OpenWrt image, i.e., the one for POE, or not? Can the 2.5G be used normally, without any disadvantages? Thanks!
I needed some time to understand that you are talking about the 4GB / 8GB RAM variant .
Yes, you will need a special variant:

→ But you should understand the difference between official openwrt image and the owenwrt image from bananapi …
Hello everyone. I ordered BPI R-4 from AliExpress vendor listed on banana pi website, and later found out that I need separate wi-fi 7 module. Ordered module from vendor who has small number of sales and reviews because I didn’t find module in official store.
Is there a potential malware risk or some safety procedure that I could use before putting everything to work with OpenWrt? Module is BPI-R4-NIC-BE14 WiFi 7 Module MediaTek MT7995AV
Thank you!
If it’s for daily use, it’s best to return it. If it’s just for a hobby toy, then you can try it — but I don’t recommend buying the Wi-Fi 7 E14 module, as it has a hardware defect.
Oh man this becoming a serious money burn :D. I actually wanted BPI R3 and don’t know how I ended in this pit.
Ok, that aside is there a potential threat buying module from non-official store? Is there any method to mitigate the risk before using it?
buy where u can return it. depends on many factors and none are stated by you, so people have to speculate. if unsure, i would buy this Amazon.de so u can return it
I mean module altered in some malicious way, highly unlikely but who knows. I’ll do a visual check and thought I could try more safety tricks if they exist before connecting it to a main board. But now I’m more worried that people telling that BE14 is useless haha
Hi, I recently bought this Banana Pi BPI-R4 Wifi 7 router board with MediaTek MT7988A (Filogic 880),4G RAM and 8G EMMC,
But I didn’t receive the serial console along with my device, So I’m using my own usb to ttl cable but I couldn’t able get the console of the device.
there is afaik no serial console shipped. also, please create a new topic for troubleshooting.
Be sure to set to 3.3v, if there is an option between 5v and 3.3v. You may damage the board otherwise.
Thanks @ericwoud, Now I had seen old similar issues posted and notice that FTDI would be the preferred USB2TTL for BananaPi, I used the same, and that solved it.
