How to update the running armbian ubuntu-system ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS

hi dear community

i have a system runningv on banana pi and i want to update this

see what is currently running

martin@bananapi:~$ l^C
martin@bananapi:~$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID:	Ubuntu
Description:	Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS
Release:	18.04
Codename:	bionic
martin@bananapi:~$

look forward to hear from you

by the way - how to find out which banana pi am on !?

updating from lts to lts is maybe possible but if you break it you have no working system…better is to create a new/fresh system and configure this leaving the old as backup till all is configured

for reading out board you can use devicetree if you have a kernel using this (most arm/arm64)

cat /sys/firmware/devicetree/base/compatible

in my case it shows

bananapi,bpi-r2mediatek,mt7623

if you have bananapi-r2 or r64 you can look in my wiki on how to create an ubuntu image, and only need to change it a bit to get 20.4 (focal)

If you still want armbian, you can look in their repo…maybe they have a focal image

Hi Frank ’

many thanks for the quick reply - great to hear from you

martin@bananapi:~$ lsb_release -a

lemaker,bananapiallwinner,sun7i-a20martin@bananapi:~$

thanks for the advice to create a fresh system.

i will have a closer look at your wiki-page

have a great day

This is no r2/r64…maybe a bpi-r1 if it is a routerboard…i guess more a bananapro

http://www.lemaker.org/product-bananapro-index.html

You have no physical access to board to look which type it is?

Hello dear Frank - it is a A-20

unfortunatly the photo is not so perfect

But looks like the bananapro…

hi there - here another photo see :

By the way - i ve got some other sbc - an udoo: but at the moment i am not sure wich model this is

see the sbc - the udoo

and here

well this would be great if i could get to know - which sbc these both are!?

look forward to hear from you

regards

mhm…looks more like the (first) bananapi manufactured by allnet

https://www.allnet.de/bananapi/ (found only a german site)

hi there - many thanks i will have a closer look

btw: the second - the udoo seems to be this one

Note i want to build up a NAS/ Samba server.;: can i do that with this UDoo quad - guess so

found the following specs

are they still correct - and do the describe the Rev D too!?

i guess so

and now i want to have a closer look at allnet - to see if /and where i get a operation system for this one

many thanks for all you do .

greetings

by the way - does this have any effect - if it is really a allnet-designed sbc!?

guess that this is a banana pi that is build under licence !? is this possible - thinkable!?

look forward to hear from you

i don’t know this board, and here is R2/r64 thread of bananapi only. only the bananapi board can be posted here but in different section (@sinovoip can you change section to bananapi 1?). i had one old bananapi, but after this has some ethernet-issues i dropped it
