M64 Raspbian or any stable image

Hi,

I’m considering getting the M64 board and see that it supposedly runs Raspbian.

However, from looking around it seems that it’s a bit of an exageration to say that this board actually works with Raspbian. Is this still true? I’m essentially looking to run a specific raspbian image but wanted the M&$ board as it appears to be better spec’d than the R-Pi 3 B.

If Raspbian is still less than optimal, are there any Ubuntu images that can be used and stable without a bunch of manual tweaks? From some Googling it appears that there aren’t really any 100% working and stable OS options for this board.

Hopefully that’s not the case.

Really? 100% fully working Image, rock solid, 24x7… Feel free to try it: https://github.com/avafinger/bpi-m64-firmware-v2#this-is-a-preliminary-lxde-os-image-for-the-banana-pi-m64-with-fully-working

Just follow this simple rules:

  • get a brand new SD CARD
  • Power the board from the barrel connector
  • Use a PSU rated 5v 2.5A
  • Use a good USB reader/writer to flash the Image.

Not following this rules is a recipe for trouble!

Don’t like LXDE? install MATE, just do a: sudo apt-get install ubuntu-mate-core ubuntu-mate-desktop reboot and login again.

I think there is a experimental raspian image from BPI somewhere , just fix the DNS issue and you are good to go.
