BPI-R2 New Image Release : Ubuntu 16.04 V1.3 2018-3-30

(ZB) #20

you are right,I will try to fix this in next few days.

@frank-w,we could find a better and easy way to solve these problem,if R2 stuck in booting progress.

(ZB) #21

Hi,I succeed to create wifi/AP,and it works fine, could you show me your log?

my hostapd.conf

image

I use my PC connect R2 AP to post these messages to you:

#22

Hi, good news… I will send you my logs in about 10 hours, when i arriving home.

(xbgmsharp) #23

I have the same issue, i do have the ap0 device but when i launch hostapd, the wifi SSID does not appears, I try with multiple devices.

(Frank W.) #24

Seems like problem with random-device

(xbgmsharp) #25

Confirmed the issue was the entropy for WPA, as the system is doing nothing. I am still working to make all hardware.

random: Cannot read from /dev/random: Resource temporarily unavailable
random: Got 0/20 bytes from /dev/random
random: Only 0/20 bytes of strong random data available from /dev/random
random: Not enough entropy pool available for secure operations
WPA: Not enough entropy in random pool for secure operations - update keys later when the first station connects

entropy_avail should be higher than 100

# cat /proc/sys/kernel/random/entropy_avail
3318

Install rng (Random Number Generator) to gain enough entropy for WPA,SSL,GPG key generation

apt-get install rng-tools
echo 'HRNGDEVICE=/dev/urandom' >> /etc/default/rng-tools

@Jackzeng Any updates on this R2 stuck in booting progress issue?.

(ZB) #31

Hello, Do you mean you need to use Ctrl+D to skip when R2 stuck? if yes, that probably filesystem was broken, you could try to change filesystem to only read, after all you configurations configured.

(Prakash) #32

@Jackzeng My usecase is, I dont want to use Ctl+D and the boot process should be auto error check & fix it like normal Ubuntu is doing. Because, there will be NO keyboard/monitor for end user to understand why the boot process struck. So it should be done automatically; Not by using any user’s input.

Maybe this can help: http://xmodulo.com/automatic-filesystem-checks-repair-linux.html

(Frank W.) #34

@garywang @jackzeng have you a clue, why entropy is so bad?

#35

Are you running the haveged daemon?

(Frank W.) #36

I have no problems (no additional daemon, but lxc with 2 containers which maybe helping on creating entropy), but xbgmsharp has massive problems…also with rng-daemon

(Frank W.) #37

i saw that line on powerdown: “Stopped Load/Save Random Seed.” maybe this does not work for user @xbgmsharp

This is the same image but with all the packages updated to 12/05/2018, moreover I allowed myself to enable the ssh access also for the root as in the development phase in my opinion makes everything more flexible.

The available usernames are: pi, root. The passwords are respectively: bananapi, bananapi

I would like to use the USBIP that is integrates in the Linux-Tools. has somebody an instruction for this?
